site-specificity= negotiations between and through interior desires and exterior spaces.

inside/outside dialelogue, between public space and the complexity of audience.

public art, place-specific interventions, community-based projects....

intersections between private and public, conversations of hidden and sublimated meanings, confrontation between individual
intention and city legislation, the meetings of the artist's body and the body-politic.

Site-specific artwork unravels and sets into relief the greater contextual situation, whether political, social, or material.

Historically, this kind of artwork is against to the museum and institutional spaces, and emphasizes the active participation of audiences.

Marshall Mcluhan's "anti-environments"= environment by creating an alternation, or transformation of the given.
opposition to environments in a way that reveals them as constructs.

(Marshall McLuhan, "The relation of environment to anti-environment" in INNOVATIONS:ESSAYS ON ART AND IDEAS, ed. Bernard Bergonzi, London:Macmillan & Co., 1968)

explore rearranging spatial configurations by implementing "contextual awareness" and promote cultural investment, and form the public exchange.

1960-1970 performance artists go public for making "living art" which deals with nomially or physically embody space, light, and form.

Art was lived rather than made, achieved with audience whose reponses became an integral part of the performance.

-Marina Abromovic, rhythm 0, 1974

Ok.. personally, I have some interestings about making site-specific art work, which is temporal, and very situational. Also it reveals the history or memory of specific area.
However, the more important reason that I am interested in this artwork is that this is the first time when audiences can participate in the artwork directly even aggrassivly.

I am more concerning about interactivity of audience.. the artwork which dose not exist alone but communicate with audience even the environment.

rediscover the sense of place and memory, marked with our own individual subscription of cultural and aesthetic referents.
